Concert goers were excited to be at the Regent Theatre in Picton to hear Juno nominated and home grown R&B singer Miss Emily perform her Christmas concert but the mood quickly changed when Alexandra Seay, Artistic Director, announced she is stepping down.
Due to funding shortfalls, two full time positions can not be supported, one being General Manager and the other Artistic Director.
The Regent is a heritage building and was a fledgling theatre when Alexandra took over December 2019. Within months, the pandemic changed the world requiring all artistic venues to find a plan for survival. With no provincial or federal funding and volunteer driven, the Regent pivoted streaming movies to the public that helped save the venue.
Alexandra Seay was instrumental in the renovation of the non- profit theatre, nurturing community support and creating solutions for programming that includes the 2024 inaugural County Adaptation Film Festival (CAFF).
