The Ludmilla Gallery, located in the Commerce Building in downtown Peterborough, will be closing its doors this February. Laurel Paluck, owner of the gallery, spoke with Trent Radio about the gallery, the closure, and its five years of operation.
The Ludmilla Gallery is a commercial art gallery “with a focus on female, regional artists,” says Paluck. The goal was to prioritize female artists who are working outside of larger cities.
Paluck noticed that sales had been “really dropping” since November 2022, having some shows without a single sale. This was unusual for Ludmila Gallery and made it clear to Paluck that fewer people are able to purchase luxury art.
Ludmila Gallery will be open for its last First Friday Art Crawl on Friday, Feb. 2.
