Tenants are pushing for reforms at Quebec’s housing tribunal, the Tribunal Administratif du Logement (TAL).
Tenants’ groups came out across Quebec on Wednesday to call attention to what they describe as a systemic bias toward landlords.
Cédric Dussault of the RCLALQ, a province-wide tenants’ rights group, told reporters on Monday that tenants need better access to information and justice.
The CORPIQ, which represents landlords in the province, say they also want a tribunal that is “clearer and more accessible to all.”
But for Verdun tenant organizer Lyn O’Donnell, it will take major reforms to fix a system she calls “an eviction machine.”
