Alzheimer’s Awareness Month in Canada takes place during the month of January.
Last year, the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington took the opportunity to focus on the importance of caregivers for those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia. This year, the local society is taking a different angle, and shining a light on the critical importance of brain health.
Executive director of the society Michelle Martin tells CICW this is something that needs to be talked about not just in the month of January, but all year long.
She added brain health habits, and taking care of your brain the best you can, can actually reduce your risk of developing Alzheimer’s or dementia.
CICW caught up with Martin at the outset of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.
