The Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce has started to survey Fraser Valley candidates nominated to run in the upcoming 43rd British Columbia provincial election, scheduled for Oct. 19.
“We never advocate for any particular candidates or parties, but what we do want to push forward [are] great policy ideas,” said Alex Mitchell, the chamber’s chief executive officer.
“Anyone that wants to sign on to those, we want to talk to them because we know what matters most to business.”
Mitchell said the chamber will evaluate where candidates stand on matters including infrastructure, post-secondary education, and agriculture.
“One of the things that we’re that we’re advocating for there, is the modernization of the Agricultural Land Reserve.” Mitchell said.
Mitchell indicated the chamber will host local candidates debates during the election.
