The St-Laurent Church on Piperville Road in Carlsbad Springs is for sale.
Richard Pommainville, CAO of the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall, told CJRO the process has been ongoing for months. It is the decision first, of the parishioners, then the monsignor and the archdiocese go through a specific protocol set out by the Roman Catholic Church. The number of parishioners had declined, especially since the Covid pandemic.
Carlsbad Springs is an old community at the eastern edge of the City of Ottawa. The 1910 stone building has had significant renovations over the last 20 years and is considered to be in good condition.
The Archdiocese is hopeful that the building will still be used for a religious organization in the future.
