An ongoing initiative to find 2,500 volunteers for the the upcoming 58e Finale des Jeux du Québec 2024 is taking place in Sherbrooke.
Julia Gingras, director of Human Resources and coordinator for the event, spoke with CJMQ about the critical role volunteers play in orchestrating this community sporting event.
The 58e Finale des Jeux du Québec, scheduled from March 1-9, 2024, will welcome over 3,000 young athletes aged 12-17 from 19 regions of Quebec. Gingras emphasizes the pivotal role volunteers play, numbering nearly 2,500, who contribute to various aspects such as welcoming spectators, assisting in ceremonies, and managing cafeterias.
The event aims not just to be a sports competition but a program fostering sports participation among youth, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and nurturing excellence in athletics.
Gingras reports that the recruitment campaign is progressing well, with various initiatives in place to encourage more registrations. Families and friends are welcome to volunteer together.
