Updated: Four-year old recovering from serious injury in Russell bus crash, local launches GoFundMe
Three young children were taken to CHEO with serious injuries after a school bus and transport truck collided south of the Village of Russell about 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The bus driver also went to hospital. OPP reports suggest the bus entered the road, Route 400, and was hit by the oncoming truck. The truck driver was not hurt.
A local employer, Nicholas Thibault, has set up a GoFundMe (gofundme.com/dylans-dad) to give one of the injured children’s father Patrick Harper some financial help while he takes time off work to care for his young son, Dylan. To date, the fundraiser has raised over $8,400 of a $4,000 goal.
Dylan’s foot was crushed, but reports suggest he is recovering. It is not yet known how much surgery and treatment he will need in future. The other hospitalized children and driver were released from hospital quickly.
CJRO spoke to Thibault about the accident and the GoFundMe campaign he set up.
