Fruitvale to build new Little League Park with help from Toronto Blue Jays
The Village of Fruitvale is one of 14 winners of the Toronto Blue Jays Jays Care Foundation Field of Dreams Project. Winners were announced during the Blue Jays game on Tuesday afternoon.
Field of Dreams provides funding to design, refurbish and build local baseball diamonds in communities across the country. An estimated 150 people attended a watch party at McInnis Field in Fruitvale.
The Village will receive $135,000 from the Jays Care Foundation. Columbia Basin Trust will also contribute $185,000 for the project. Fruitvale will pay the remaining costs, which are estimated at $100,000.
These funds will be used to completely overhaul the Village’s Little League Park. This includes a brand new artificial turf field and a new electronic scoreboard among other improvements.
Construction on the project is expected to begin in mid-July with an estimated completion timeline of eight weeks.
