Indigenous Fashion Arts Festival returns for fourth year with first time vendors
The Indigenous Fashion Arts Festival returns again with some vendors attending for the first time.
Running from May 30 to June 2 at the Toronto Eaton Centre, the festival exists to support and raise up Indigenous-made fashion. This marks the fourth year of the festival.
One of the first time vendors is Chelsee Pettit, founder of the streetwear brand Aaniin Retail. Pettit ran a storefront which featured Indigenous fashion, but she had to close her stores due to high rent costs in downtown Toronto. “It’s just really nice to be back around everybody, so I’m excited to participate with the other vendors,” says Pettit.
With over 70 Indigenous vendors that operate in the fashion industry, the festival gives vendors a chance to expand their market. There will be panel discussions, workshops, a market and runway at the festival.
