“Addressing climate change isn’t something that one person can do for a municipality,” says Janie Brooks, climate change coordinator for Tantramar.
She took over as Climate Change Coordinator in November 2023, and is the third person to hold the post in three years since it was first established by the former town of Sackville.
She stopped by CHMA studios to talk about the job, saying “My role is mostly a supportive one, trying to rally for municipal staff to really put this at the forefront of their decision making.”
In the coming months, Brooks will be working on including a public interface to track power generated by the town’s solar array and continued refining of the climate lens process, among other things.
Brooks has also coordinated events for World Wetlands Day this Friday at the Tantramar Wetlands Centre and the Sackville Visitor Information Centre.
