When world renowned and influential musician Robbie Robertston passed away in August of 2023, former CKRZ radio host of Aboriginal Airwaves, Elaine Bomberry who now lives in Vancouver, remembered she had done an interview with Robertson on her show when he returned home for a visit to Six Nations of the Grand River Territory in 1996.
The interview had been recorded on cassette tape and left in a ziplock bag for decades. Wondering if it would still play she had it sent to CKRZ to see if it could be digitized and rebroadcast.
Fortunately, it was able to be converted into digital format. Elaine recently talked to CKRZ’s Compelling Conversations to reminisce that very special interview. The original interview with Robbie Robertson has been edited into a three part series that shares Elaine’s comments looking back and the original interview from 1996.
