Trudy’s Source for Sports has replaced Sommerville’s Sporting Goods in downtown Cobourg, and the new co-owner brings a special expertise to the business.
Purchasing the business with her husband Brian, Trudy Stacey is a former National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) hockey player and is the current director of development for the West Northumberland Girls Hockey Association.
The new name comes as part of the sale agreement with Sommerville’s, which had been a fixture in the downtown for more than 60 years — first with Clarke Sommerville before his son, Dave, later took over.
Stacey said she plans to operate the store in the same spirit as Sommerville’s — a family-run, community-minded business.
