Tenants in a Verdun fourplex got a shock last December: an eviction notice served first by email, then to their door. But the reason gave them pause.
The tenants were told they were being evicted to use their units for social housing. Montreal’s municipal housing office, the OMHM, has confirmed that no such agreement is in place at the units.
CKUT speaks to two of those tenants, as well as a representative of their housing committee and their member of national assembly, who all got involved in the effort to stop the eviction.
