Lennox and Addington County General Hospital (LACGH) has been approved for its first ever MRI machine. This will mean the county is one of the smallest communities in Ontario with the technology.
In order to fund the new machine, and the renovations required to facilitate it, the hospital is looking to raise $3.5 million.
Along with seeking various funding and financing opportunities, the LACGH Foundation has asked council for a total of $1 million.
In December 2021, Ontario Health invited all hospitals in the province to request operational hours for
new MRIs. Chosen hospitals are to absorb the cost of purchasing the MRI, as well as the associated construction costs.
Construction began in the summer of 2023 in the former LENADCO facility in Napanee. The completed project will be an expansion of the diagnostic imaging department, and will house the MRI machine, as well as new, specialized clinics.
