A Six Nations school’s denial of loan funding by a local bank was a subject for discussion at this week’s Six Nations Elected Council (SNEC) general council meeting Monday January 15th.
The Six Nations Kawennio Private School has been turned down 5 times in the past.
SNEC councillor Cynthia Jamieson asked a question that many banks have yet to answer. She challenges what is credibility to the act of truth and reconciliation on behalf of the banking institutions and what they will do to help first nations children and do their part for truth and reconciliation.
SNEC councillor Dayle Bomberry also made comments on how the federal government did everything in their power to strip Indigenous people of their language and they should do everything in their power to help bring it back.
