Mayor of the District of Kitimat Phil Germuth reflected on 2023 and the successes and challenges that the district experienced.
Some of the highlights and successes they have had on various projects as well as progress on on going projects that they have. One of the more notable items being the opening of the new Haisla Bridge in June of last year. This year will see the addition of a Totem Pole on the southeast end of the bridge. More on this to come with artist Nathan Wilson, the mayor says.
Germuth also talks about the challenges with Northern Health and the hospital emergency closures these past six months. His hope for 2024 is to resolve this serious issue that affects everyone.
