Halifax Regional Council voted against removing 21 Fox Hollow Dr. in Upper Tantallon from a list of surplus land owned by the city, a motion put forward by Councillor Pam Lovelace during Tuesday’s meeting.
Lovelace brought the motion forward to rescind the decision after her request to remove the property was voted down last month. The municipality owned land will be assessed to determine if it can be used for upcoming affordable housing projects.
Lovelace said last month the land is not a good fit for affordable housing due to its lack of access to transit routes and because it could block an access to the St. Margaret’s Bay Trail.
During the meeting Tuesday she added that the lot can’t support a septic system because there is a wetland on the property.
Lovelace’s motion to rescind was defeated in a vote of 11 to 4.
