The Safer Communities and Neighborhoods (SCAN) unit of the Alberta Sheriffs, along with the Lethbridge Police Service, closed down a property at 1607 3 Avenue N. in Lethbridge on Jan. 10th after police were called to the property over 30 times in the past two years over disturbances related to drug dealing.
The lease of all tenants of the property is terminated effective Jan. 10th, according to a court order obtained by SCAN. The property will have the locks changed and will be fenced off and boarded up for 90 days. People will be barred from the property until Apr. 9th, and SCAN unit members will monitor the property until then to ensure no criminal activity pops up.
SCAN opened a unit in Lethbridge in November 2023. Since its beginning in 2008, SCAN has investigated more than 8,000 properties throughout the province and has issued approximately 100 community safety orders.
