Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook has been dealing with a cyber security attack and it is a first for the facility.
Information technology services were taken offline on Dec. 29 and an investigation was launched right away. In a statement released on New Year’s Eve, the university said the incident has been reported to law enforcement.
Grenfell Vice President Dr. Ian Sutherland says the incident has been contained to the campus and that they are still investigating how this happened and what information was accessed. Sutherland adds Grenfell Campus is committed to the security of all data and anyone affected will be contacted. Students return to in person classes at Grenfell Monday and online courses have started.
