The proposed tax increase for Wellington County for 2024 is 4.6 per cent, following a meeting on Monday of Council’s budgetary committee.
While no major changes were made to the budget at the session, treasurer Ken DeHart sparked conversation with council members about what has driven the number up from 3.8 per cent last year.
Construction costs and a lack of help in funding from the province were tabled as prominent factors in the jump.
CICW spoke with DeHart following the meeting, regarding these factors and more that have led to the proposed tax increase.
