It’s somewhat customary to get a year in review or look ahead interview with community leaders. But with two newly elected chiefs and councils at Six Nations of the Grand River and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, both communities are still getting organized.
The Mississaugas Council was only sworn in on Friday December 15th and the Six Nations Council is going through a two month transition, so neither councils are settled.
However, both Chief’s offered some comments as they look to 2024. Six Nations Elected Chief Sherry Lynn Hill said the council will finish up its training and transition in January 2024 and portfolios will be created. Mississaugas of the Credit Chief Claire Sault said she wants to look for income generating opportunities to the community and have a plan in sixty days that the community will follow over the next two years.
