The Lotus Medical Clinic in Shawville is up for sale, and owner Joanne Romain is looking to step back from managing the facility, which boasts the offices of more than a dozen family doctors and other medical professionals.
With more than 30 years in the health care field as a medical secretary and coordinator with the local family medicine group, Romain is deeply familiar with the local needs and just over a decade ago, saw a gap that needed to be filled. She said that when she founded the clinic in 2014, she was looking to create a space where the region’s family doctors would be under one roof in order to foster cooperation and collegiality.
Dr. Keith MacLellan, a physician at the clinic who’s been practicing in the Pontiac for 46 years, said that the clinic has been a big benefit to the community, especially for recruitment, as many newer physicians prefer “turnkey” operations like the Lotus as opposed to managing their own offices.
