Climate anxiety is a relatively new phenomena as people struggle trying to figure out how to process the rapid changes in the environment.
One solution has been created by Resilience NDG, a climate action group in the borough, which started their Resilience and Recognition series on January 8th. The series offers time and space for people to gather, receive guidance and share emotions about climate change. Each session is an hour and a half of sincere discussion with experienced group leaders.
The sessions are lead by Kara Jonston, an organizer at resilience NDG and former community mental health worker, and Dr. Judith Gulko, a clinical psychologist and an affiliate with the climate psychology alliance of North America.
Together, Jonston and Gulko will lead sessions over the next four months to help address what they say is an overlooked and misunderstood aspect of climate change.
