The Notre-Dame-de-Grâce community council holiday food service is celebrating is fifth year this year.
The program, called December Together, is a free meal service where people in the community can get together over the holidays. It includes twelve different events between the 22nd of December and the 3rd of January, including Christmas day. There are four brunches and eight dinners through this time.
Another goal of the program is to address loneliness that many people feel by providing social opportunities.
December Together is run by the NDG community council in partnership with other local organizations and businesses.
Most of the community organization in NDG and Côte-des-Neiges close between the 20th of December and the 6th of January. The NDG food depot, one of the areas only food banks, closing during that period. December together helps to fill in that gap, but now it’s fifth year December together is also trying to focus on addressing possible holiday season loneliness.
