The Region of Waterloo was expected to have the 2025 budget finalized this week. After 15 hours of discussion, the council decided to pause and meet next week to finish the finalized budget. While they didn’t finish the discussion the council did finalize parts of the budget.
Councillor Colleen James brought forth a motion to provide the Food bank of Waterloo Region annually with more funding, increasing the amount by $756,000 to a total amount of $1.5 million. Councillors debated on the funding amount and the terms of the motion for almost an hour, until reaching the conclusion to carry the motion 10 to 5
