A merger of two public health units in southern and central Ontario is imminent, after the Board of Directors for the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit voted in favour of amalgamating with Peterborough Public Health.

While the vote was not unanimous, many Board Members with the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit voted in favour of amalgamating with Peterborough Public Health, believing the merger was the best option, not only for budget reasons, but by providing the best healthcare for area residents.
