Ten major student associations at Concordia went on a formal strike to voice solidarity with Palestine, lasting two days from Thursday November 21 to Friday the 22.
Over 7000 students made up the vote, including student groups across different departments including the Students of History, the Political Science Student Association, the Comms Guild and more. The groups either asked students not to attend classes, or are using picketing tactics. The picketing tactics involved standing outside of their classrooms so that any professor or student who chooses to teach or attend a class has “crossed the picket line.” No groups are physically preventing such a cross.
On Thursday the 21 students walked out of classes on masse, created picket lines, and demonstrated on the street.
CJLO covered the day from the field, speaking with student group leaders, counter-protesters and police.
