Chavah Lindsay, a Saint John fashion designer, won a national fashion show in Toronto last week. But this was a show with a bit of a difference. The event, the Cashmere Collection, in support of the battle against breast cancer, required the clothes to be made of toilet paper.
Lindsay’s stunning dress, in tribute to her mother, beat the competition in one of the local designer’s many recent successes. Local 107.3FM caught up with Lindsay at her studio on Water Street, where she spoke about the difficulties of working with the rather unusual material, as well as the experience of the show itself and how she originally got started in the world of fashion design.
More information about the show and Lindsay’s winning design can be found at the Cashmere Collection website, and her 2019 entry is detailed at Lindsay’s own website.
