Members of the Russell Legion are hoping its hall will be open in time for Remembrance Day. The hall has been closed since there was a fire five years ago. Delays were caused by several factors and the Legionnaires are just waiting for the occupancy permit to be issued.
The City of Ottawa held its first rural summit since 2008. Rural residents have been expressing their concerns, as part of the process, since spring. The primary concerns raised include roads, traffic and transportation.
And the Kin Club of Russell distributed $1.2 million dollars among seven local charities at a gala in Embrun. The funds were raised by the club’s Catch the Ace lottery which ended in late summer.
