After recently being released on CBC’s Gem and Netflix in the US, UK and Canada, Yintah, a documentary film about We’suwet’en member Freda Huson, has a shot at an Oscar nomination after receiving several awards earlier this year.
More than a decade in the making, the film follows Huson, of the Unist’ot’en, and Gidimt’en clan Spokesperson, Molly Wickham as they blockade roads, protest and occupy work sites in an attempt to stop construction of the multi-billion-dollar Coastal Gas Link pipeline to feed Shell Canada’s LNG Canada export facility in Kitimat, B.C.
