Wellington North council was presented with a 4.5 per cent tax levy for 2025 during a council meeting this week.
The 2025 municipal portion of the tax bill would represent an annual increase of $62.78 for the average residential property.
Council directed staff to return with a report evaluating how to reduce the tax rate with Mayor Andy Lennox saying ” We need to be very aware of our resident’s ability to pay.” Instead of the proposed preliminary increase, council recommended a tax increase between three and 3.5 per cent.
Staff will return with a report detailing how to lower the tax increase at a later date.
