The newly branded Square Peg space at Kitchener City Hall has been home to many vendors such as Four All ice cream, and more recently the Oktoberfest pop-up shop. The next project is being taken on by the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre in collaboration with LiftOff and the City of Kitchener. Square Peg has been transformed into a mini market for the holiday shopping season. The mini market will offer rotating weeklong residencies for local vendors to sell their products through the month of November.
Aura Hertzog, the Manager of Downtown Development and Innovation for the City of Kitchener says this allows vendors to have more time than a usual one- or two-day holiday market and think about the possibility of opening their own storefront in downtown.
