Not only did the Progressive Conservatives have to face losing the provincial election as a whole this week, but premier, Blaine Higgs lost his own seat in Quispamsis riding to Liberal candidate, Aaron Kennedy. On Monday, Kennedy became the first person since Allison DeLong to defeat an incumbent premier in New Brunswick, in 1987.
With the PCs dealing with an unpopular leader, Kennedy achieved a massive swing towards the Liberals in the riding, despite the polls that suggested a much closer race prior to the election.
Kennedy spoke with Local 107.3FM about his experience of the campaign, and how and when it became clear that there was a chance of winning in the Quispamsis riding. Also acknowledging the challenges facing the incoming Liberal provincial government, he also expressed some of his priorities for his arrival in Fredericton.
