Six Nations Elected Council (SNEC) have determined that a new building is needed for the Gané Yohs Health Centre, after mold was found in the facility earlier this year.
SNEC CEO Nathan Wright said during the Oct. 23 general council meeting that the project will move into its design phase to begin preparations for construction, and says community input will be taken into account.
SNEC say an assessment phase to determine the plan for the building moving forward has concluded. Council was looking at whether mold remediation on the existing building could be done, or if a new building would need to be constructed.
In July, CJKS confirmed through Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) which operates the services provided in the Gané Yohs Health Centre, that they would facilitate either option.
No timeline was given when construction will begin, but SNEC say updates will be provided as they become available.
