Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS (also called C/2023 A3) brightened enough to be a naked-eye visible smudge in the northwestern sky in spite of local light pollution and a super moon. Binoculars, telescopes and some cameras revealed its fuzzy coma and tail. Earlier in October the aurora borealis lit up the sky for many nights. On October 10 there were even colours visible, including a brilliant red.
In other news, thirteen-year-old Jacob Landriault was given a Citizen Recognition Award by Russell Township Council for searching for and finding a missing child, and the Town of Casselman has also instituted a Citizen Recognition Program.
