In the freshly re-drawn electoral district of Prince George-Cariboo North, incumbent candidate Coralee Oakes served over 10 years as a BC Liberal. She did not cross the floor to the BC Conservative party as the BC United Party recently folded. Instead she chose the independent candidate path. Her riding did not include any area of the Prince George townsite during prior BC Elections, so Oakes presence at local debates is a new sight.
CFUR caught up with Oakes during an All Candidates Forum held at UNBC Campus on October 3 . She and one competitor, Randy Thompson, from BC’s Green Party were in attendance. Sheldon Clare of the BC Conservatives, and Denice Bardua of the BC NDP were not in attendance.
