Residents and staff at the John M. Parrott Centre started receiving flu shots this week. Staff reported this among a list of other highlights in their monthly compliance report.
At the Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) Integration Day in Kingston this month, the centre featured a program for families dealing with dementia that was developed by their BSO lead Michelle Hickey Clark. It includes a full day education session for families focused on the “Dementia Journey.” According to staff, it has been well received, and has been shared with the south east BSO team.
Staff also noted the centre is less reliant on agencies for hiring, and are also seeing consistent users of their respite services.
The centre has three managers participating in a four-month long-term care management training program through AdvantageON. It includes small group sessions, one-on-one coaching sessions and sector specific management training.
