After years of deliberations and discussions about how to handle the termite situation in Centre Wellington, council voted in favour of the Termite Management Subsidy Program at yesterday’s council meeting.
The approval means staff will be directed to immediately activate the program that will allow residents to apply for funding to deal with termites on their property in certain designated areas of the township.
Adam McNabb, Managing Director of Corporate Services & Treasurer, said homeowners will need to meet several requirements and there are some key elements in the program that they can apply for.
Along with the treatment of the termites, Mayor Shawn Watters insists that continuous education and awareness will be key.
