The City of Nelson recently purchased their first fully electric road vehicle.
The new Ford Lightning Electric Vehicle (EV) will be used by the city’s parks department. Funds for the vehicle were secured through the Columbia Basin Trust’s Charge Up program.
“This funding has allowed us to take a significant step towards achieving our ambitious climate targets and demonstrates our shared commitment to promoting a safe, healthy, and low-carbon future,” says Mayor Janice Morrison.
This is one step in Nelson’s commitment to promoting a cleaner and healthier climate: they call their climate plan Nelson Next.
The city’s Senior Climate and Energy Strategist Cecilia Jaques joined CJLY to discuss the purchase of the new EV and the Nelson Next climate plan.
