Workers at the Port of Montreal voted to reject an offer from management on Tuesday by over 99 percent. They’ve also adopted a mandate of pressure tactics, including a possible strike. The union says the vote had a 90 percent turnout.
Montreal’s 1,200 longshore workers have been without a collective agreement since the end of 2023.
The Maritime Employers Association acknowledged the strike vote in a statement, and added that any pressure tactics from the union require 72 hours’ notice.
