The newly formed Kingston Climate Justice Coalition will be kicking off their advocacy efforts with a Kingston Climate Action Town Hall on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Aric McBay, Lead of Climate Justice for Providence Centre, explained in an interview with CFRC, “The reason we wanted to have this climate town hall was to really give a chance to represent different overlapping issues that groups have, but also for people to come and share their own concerns and share their own visions for what Kingston could look like in 2040 and beyond.”
KCJC’s founding members include 8 local climate justice advocacy organizations who came together with the goal of building a “more coherent strategy” to advocate for climate justice.
The Town Hall will be their first event, and also will feature the unveiling of the group’s first Kingston City Council Report Card, a document which will outline the successes and shortcomings of the City’s climate action efforts.
