This past Labour Day weekend, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) issued 400 tickets.
Cst. James Cadigan says police noted an increase in excessive speeding, and focused on identifying impaired drivers. 17 vehicles were seized and 19 drivers’ licenses suspended. Three drivers were charged with impaired driving and three others were deemed to be impaired and issued seven-day driving suspensions.
Cadigan says the Corner Brook Detachment charged one driver with impaired driving and police also found a quantity of what they believe is methamphetamine. RNC also issued tickets for cell phone use, seatbelt violations, illegal window tint, no vehicle insurance, and licensing infractions.
