With a provincial election on the horizon this fall, CHMA talks to Mount Allison University political science professor Mario Levesque about the upcoming provincial election, and how the candidates might fair in a new, smaller Tantramar riding.
Levesque is doubtful about rumours of an early election call by Premier Blaine Higgs, and happy about the return of on-campus polling stations this year.
And though he sees an advantage for incumbent MLA Megan Mitton, he says that Liberal candidate John Higham and Progressive Conservative candidate Bruce Phinney will make the race interesting.
“All of a sudden, [Mitton]’s going up with two other seasoned politicians,” says Levesque. “So it’ll be interesting to see how that plays out.”
