Keyin College has signed a $300,000 partnership with soccer team Barrow AFC in the UK.
The majority of the money will be used to allow players and coaches to come to NL and host training camps. Back in June, Corner Brook MHA and then Immigration Minister Gerry Byrne announced $171,000 would be spent to add the Newfoundland and Labrador logo on Barrow team jerseys, a move that angered the opposition and Bay of Islands MHA Eddie Joyce. Byrne says maybe now, they can understand communications, new ideas, and technology. $50,000 of the funding will go towards supporting NL athletes at next year’s Canada Games.
