Local fly cast Kara Knight is en route to Åhus, Sweden for the Worlds Fly Casting Championship is being held from August 19th – 25th.
This past April, local Fly Caster Kara Knight also attended the Spey-o-Rama, a national fly-casting tournament hosted at The Golden Gate Angling & Casting Club in San Francisco. She has attended this event 12 times and this year she won the women’s title, both in four-cast total and longest cast, with casts of 520 and 135 ft. respectively
She’s tempering her expectations on winning any titles during this competition as the weather and open water pose new and unpredictable challenges compared to the Spey-o-Rama, which takes place in a man-made pond. She is the only Canadian representative this year for both men and women at the Worlds.
