About 260 shorebird biologists will gather together in Sackville next week for the 10th Western Hemisphere Shorebird Group Meeting. At the same time, tens of thousands of semipalmated sandpipers and other shorebird species are gathering along the mud flats off Dorchester Cape.
“The people that we’re going to bring together here, even though they may live thousands and thousands of kilometers from us, are actually studying the same birds, just at different points in their life cycle,” says meeting co-chair and Mount Allison biology professor Dr. Diana Hamilton. “It’s really beneficial to get everybody together to be able to share information, talk about research, and focus on conservation for these birds.”
The meeting will be held Aug. 11-16 at Mt. A.
