Nova Scotia publishing company, the Gaspereau Press, will be making Sackville home soon.
“There’s about a million and a half small moving pieces that have to align for this transition to work,” says Keagan Hawthorne, founder of Sackville’s The Hardscrabble Press, and soon to be publisher and owner of a relocated Gaspereau Press. “We wanted to make sure we gave ourselves enough time to get everything in order.”
Hawthorne and the founders of Gaspereau Press are taking the time over the next 18 months to put those pieces in place, before the decades old, esteemed literary press based in Kentville, Nova Scotia makes the move to Sackville in early 2026.
CHMA talks with Hawthorne about how and why the move came about, and what Sackville has in store as the new home of Gaspereau Press.
