It’s less than three months to election day in municipalities around Nova Scotia.
In Queens County, current and former councillors are declaring their intentions for the Oct. 19 election.
The electoral boundaries for the Region of Queens have been changed since the 2020 election. So some people will be running in areas that look different than they did in 2020.
So far, three of the seven sitting councillors have said they won’t run again. Three others have declared they will run again. And Mayor Darlene Norman hasn’t yet announced her plans.
QCCR spoke to two councillors about their plans — District 6 Coun. David Brown is one of the councillors who won’t be running for re-election, and District 3 Coun. Maddie Charlton, who made history in 2020 as the youngest councillor elected since municipal amalgamation in 1996.
