Guelph Eramosa Township is moving ahead with a pilot project to install speed humps along two stretches of road.
The pilot will include the entire length of McLennan Street in Rockwood and Conservation Road, just outside of Guelph, from Highway 6 to Victoria Road North.
There was a near miss involving a school bus on Conservation Road which prompted the proposal. The Township already installed delineators and a radar sign on Conservation Road but speeding continues to be a problem.
Mayor Chris White says the two roads will provide great samples given one is a very urban road and the other is through-way for people commuting from Fergus to Guelph.
Once the speed humps are in place, staff will use traffic counters to measure the effectiveness of the humps. Staff are expected to provide an update on the project in August.
